MEET THE TEAM
TYRON HATCH
Originally from Durban, I played age group provincial-level rugby and cricket together with senior national baseball and softball.
After getting my Bachelors degree in Education, I taught Science and Sports Science at a high school in Durban. I moved to Cape Town in 2011 where I got into the fitness industry as a personal trainer.
The CrossFit bug bit in 2013 after watching a local throw down and some highlights on ESPN. I quickly became entrenched in the way CrossFit becomes a way of life and I was lucky enough to be on a Regionals team in that year. In 2014 I qualified as an individual athlete.
After that I started shifting my mind to coaching and wanting to be the best coach possible.

CJ WARD
Born and raised in Cape Town, I came from a very sporty family, so being active and involved with sports is something that was ingrained in me at a very young age.
Playing rugby in winter and participating in athletics during the summer months, spending time in the gym and being active is something I always made a priority.
I found CrossFit in 2014 and immediately knew it was something I wanted to pursue further as an athlete and a coach.
CrossFit has become something much bigger than a workout program. Being a coach and helping people achieve their goals is something I look forward to every day. I love creating a positive and fun atmosphere where people can be themselves and be surrounded by like-minded individuals.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been into fitness. I can remember as a 3-year, old lying on a mat next to my mom doing a Jane Fonda-style aerobic class. Fitness was always something I enjoyed.
I started as a fitness instructor while completing my studies. After I graduated, I then started personal training. I loved that I could use what I loved and make a difference in people’s lives - helping them achieve their goals.
I was introduced to CrossFit in 2015 and I fell in love. My mindset started to change. I became less worried about the scale and more excited about what my body was able to do. I want to set a strong example for my 6 year old daughter. I found more purpose and passion in CrossFit. I get to go to work and help my clients move better, live healthier lives and enjoy it at the same time.

CALLAN PEARCE
Having spent most of my life in Durban, I decided to make the move to Cape Town in 2013. Around this time, just after graduating from high school, I pursued a career as a professional baseball player in the USA. This journey spread over a period of 4 years and this led me to choose a path in the health and fitness industry.
The concept of CrossFit made me a greater athlete during my career and this sparked a desire to try help improve the lives of those around me.
CrossFit has empowered me to be a better, more functional human and it was a natural progression from first profession. I enjoy interacting with people and ultimately empowering them to see their true potential.

As a “part time” coach, my favourite aspect to coaching is creating camaraderie and an environment where people can express themselves. I get love from helping others. Whether it be the competitive athlete wanting to work on technique to move more efficiently, or the someone wanting to get their first pull-up. Putting a smile on people’s faces is my JAM.
I have been doing CrossFit for 5 years and have a real admiration for the sport and the movement. As an entrepreneur, I have respect for what CrossFit stands for and challenging the status quo to make better human beings.
